Description
Hello, I am looking for a dog friendly apartment in Montreal. I will be moving for work, and would like to be as close to downtown as possible so that I can walk or take public transit to work. I have a 45lb dog, and he doesn’t bark, and I’m not just saying that, he only barks a litttle if he is dreaming. He is crate trained, vaccinated, microchipped, and will be getting neutered in the fall. He is in the crate 100% of the time I am out of the house. I will be in the office 2 days a week, so I will take him to doggy daycare or a pet sitter on those days. He has no aggression towards people or other animals, and I keep his nails trimmed and filed on a weekly basis. I will also promise to purchase area rugs and hallway runners to dampen any sound from him walking. He gets 2 1-hour walks a day, training, and enrichment toys, he has never destroyed furniture, walls or doors. I don’t smoke, never have. I also rarely drink, don’t party. I have rented 3 apartments in the past, but only have 1 reference from my most recent landlord, the first two places I rented was a student only apartment complex, and I have tried to contact them to get a reference but no one ever answers the phone or email. I have always paid my rent on time, have never had any judgements/ disputes/ complaints with any landlords/neighbours. Aside from the job in Montreal, I also have a second job that is completely remote and I set my own hours. My current income is ~4400 per month after tax, and once I start the job in Montreal it would be an additional ~3400 per month after tax. My budget is $2000 a month, but would consider going up slightly if it is a great place in a great location. What I am looking for: - 2 bedrooms or 1 bed plus den (for an office, I work from home and enjoy sewing) - washer/dryer in unit (I am terrified of bedbugs and do not want to use a laundromat ever again) - kitchen appliances included - AC (I hate the humidity, and my dog has a double coat so he doesn’t like it either) - unfurnished (while I will only be bringing a few things with me, one of my main hobbies and interests is collecting vintage/antique/designer furniture, and want to be able to do more of this in my own place) - dog friendly, for a 45lb dog - I don’t care how updated the unit is, I even prefer older places with character and warmth over new builds Would increase my budget for: - parking included, or an affordable parking space - a large private balcony/terrace (I love tomatoes and hot peppers and would like to grow some next summer) - utilities included - a large studio or loft if it is spacious enough to keep a separation of work and life - floors and kitchen cabinets that aren’t sad and grey Absolute dealbreakers: - murphy beds - basements - being neighbours to a bunch of young students who party every day My promises to you: - I won’t install any peel and stick tiles, flooring, backsplashes, or wallpaper - I will purchase area rugs to protect floors - I will listen to music or tv with headphones to not disturb neighbours - can pay 2 months upfront - I am clean and quiet, so is my dog - no bringing in questionable upholstered furniture to prevent bedbugs, if I do buy a previously owned fabric item it would only be from a reputable/professional reseller of midcentury designer pieces. I don’t really have a definitive move in date, but would prefer June 1st, so that I don’t have to stay in a hotel or overpriced airbnb.
