Kitimat, in the North Coast region of British Columbia , Canada, is a district municipality. It is a member municipality of the central district of the regional government of Kitimat-Stikine. The main employer in the municipality is aluminum producer Rio Tinto. Secondary participants are local government, schools, small industry and utility / retail.
