Kitimat, in the North Coast region of British Columbia , Canada, is a district municipality. It is a member municipality of the central district of the regional government of Kitimat-Stikine. During the 1950s, the Aluminum Company of Canada (Alcan) designed and developed the town. On June 6, 1952, its postal office was approved. Kitimat's urban area is 93.68 sq mi (242.63 km2).
